General information about us
We are a non-profit organization based in North Carolina, dedicated to rescuing dogs in need. We receive dogs and puppies from many different places including animal shelters, animal cruelty investigations and individuals who for one reason or another, are not keeping their dogs. When we bring a puppy or dog into our organization, we make a commitment to that animal to try to make sure that it will be happy and healthy for the the rest of its long life. In placing our dogs, we conduct an extensive interview/screening to assure the quality and commitment of each home.
Before adoption, our dogs live in foster homes where they live as part of the family. They are socialized, trained, loved and spoiled until placement with their permanent family. Our dogs receive the best of veterinary care including spaying and neutering. We perform all veterinary procedures deemed necessary including (but not limited to) treatment of heartworms, parvo, distemper, stomach torsion, and surgery for hip dysplasia. These are a few of the medical conditions we run up against somewhat regularly. Many of our dogs are heartworm positive when we bring them into our program, and they are automatically treated by an area veterinarian.
Our organization is non-profit and tax deductible donations are always appreciated. Even a $5.00 donation can go a long way! Information about contributing.
Foster homes are the backbone of our organization. A New Leash on Life is always in need of committed and dedicated foster homes. Foster homes should be within a 50 mile radius of the Raleigh area. If you can open your heart and home to foster a dog in need, please contact us.
We know that you will agree that each and every one of these wonderful dogs deserve a chance at happiness. We hope you will take the time to email us with suggestions, ideas and encouragement.
